Halloween at Reykjavík Family Park and Zoo on Saturday
Reykjavík Family Park and Zoo will celebrate Halloween on Oct. 24 and 31 with a variety of exciting activities for visitors.
On the First Day of Winter, Oct. 24, the program's theme will be ghosts and monsters. Folklorist Dagrún Ósk Jónsdóttir will lead visitors on a special ghost-and-monster walk through the park, sharing stories about creatures from Icelandic folklore. Along the way, visitors will encounter characters from the stories in unexpected places, presented in collaboration with Pilkington Props and Hringleikur. The walks depart from the park entrance at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
A maze will open that day, where young actors from the local community will guide visitors through an imaginative ghost story. Groups will be admitted every 10 minutes from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Visitors can also join a creative mask-making workshop led by Þykjó.
On Halloween, Oct. 31, a family-friendly program will run from 3 to 5 p.m., featuring face painting and a costume disco led by DJ Dóra Júlía. The maze will be open again, providing an exciting setting for visitors of all ages.
A bonfire will be lit on both days, giving visitors a chance to enjoy a cozy autumn atmosphere by the fire. Marshmallows and other treats will be available there.
Through these events, Reykjavík Family Park and Zoo aims to offer families a fun and memorable experience together, combining folklore, drama, creativity and Halloween spirit in the park's unique setting. Regular admission fees apply.
