Bidding for waste collection in Breiðholt
At its last meeting, the City Council gave approval to launch a pilot bidding process for residential waste collection in Breiðholt.
The work is expected to go out to bid starting May 1, 2027, for a six-year term. It could be extended for two additional years, for a maximum of eight years.
Bidding for waste collection in Breiðholt will help determine whether the City can provide residents with equivalent or superior waste collection at a lower cost. The Breiðholt project establishes a practical baseline for comparing contracted services with the City's own operations. Results will be regularly evaluated based on cost, service quality, reliability, and flexibility.
The project's findings will provide essential information for future decisions on waste collection in the city.
