All children who will be 18 months or older by Sept. 1, with applications to city-run preschools, have been offered placement.

The City has also been able to accommodate most requests for transfers between preschools. Additionally, younger children with priority status have been offered placement.

By the end of the first phase of preschool placements on April 14, parents of 2,081 children had received and accepted offers at city-run and private preschools. Reykjavík City has allocated spots to 1,778 children in its City-operated preschools.

165 additional spots coming this fall

This fall, 165 additional spots will become available and will be offered as vacant staff positions are filled. New openings will be added at the Klettaborg and Klambri preschools, and more children can be accommodated once construction work is completed at Hálsaskógur, Brákarborg and the former Garðaborg, which is now part of the Jörfi preschool.
