The City Executive Council has approved 20 project grants from the City Center Fund for 2023.

The role of the City Center Fund is to ensure that the city center remains an interesting and appealing place for residents and other city stakeholders, the people of Iceland, and foreign guests alike. The goal of the City Center Fund is to encourage diversity in the city center and promoting it as a residential area, as well as a center for commerce, services, daily life, culture, and administration.

The application deadline for City Center Fund grants was Nov. 1, 2023. The fund received 37 applications requesting a total of 50,941,000 ISK in grants.

Grant decisions were based on diversity, innovation, projected audience size, grassroots support, impact on city center development, applicant group composition, project accessibility, long-term impact, synergies, and overall application quality.

The proposal for allocation was presented to the city center consultation forum for official statement, and no comments were received.
