Church Construction Fund
The City Council confirmed the approval for the Church Construction Fund on January 7, 2003. The Fund's role is to support the construction of churches and parish halls in Reykjavík with the goal of enabling each parish to have its own church as quickly as possible.
The City Council confirmed the approval for the Church Construction Fund on January 7, 2003. The Fund's role is to support the construction of churches and parish halls in Reykjavík with the goal of enabling each parish to have its own church as quickly as possible.
The Fund's Board shall lead efforts to secure funding for the Fund, preserve it, and make reasoned proposals to the City Council for grants from the Fund.
The Board consists of three individuals, two of whom are elected by the district committees of the Reykjavík deaneries and one by the City Executive Council for four years at a time. The representative of Reykjavík City serves as chair of the board.
On June 19, 2014, the City Executive Council elected Björk Vilhelmsdóttir as Chair of the Church Construction Fund Board for the remainder of the electoral term.
