Health-related staff benefits
In line with Reykjavík City's workplace health policy, certain health-related benefits are available to staff. The following health-related benefits are currently available:
Free pool access with the swim pass
Swim passes gives Reykjavík City staff free access to Árbæjarlaug, Breiðholtslaug, Dalslaug, Grafarvogslaug, Laugardalslaug Pool, Klébergslaug, Sundhöll Reykjavíkur, and Vesturbæjarlaug.
As an employee, you can apply for a swim pass after one month of employment, provided you have received a fixed monthly salary for 3 months or an hourly salary for 6 months.
The Culture Card provides access to museums and libraries
The Culture Pass provides free access to all major museums in Reykjavík. The pass includes Kjarvalsstaðir, Hafnarhús, Ásmundarsafn, Árbæjarsafn, the Settlement Exhibition, Reykjavík Museum of Photography, and the Maritime Museum.
The Culture Card doubles as a library card for all City Library branches.
As an employee, you can apply for the Culture Card after one month of employment, provided you have received a fixed monthly salary for 3 months or an hourly salary for 6 months.
Travel agreement ensures travel allowance
Staff who don't commute by private car at least 80% of workdays on average can apply for a travel allowance.
Allowance can be up to 7,500 kr. per month.
Apply for a travel agreement immediately upon signing an employment contract.
Wellness grant supports physical activity
Wellness grants support fitness at gyms, sports clubs, and other regular fitness providers. Supported activities include yoga, dance, golf courses, karate, annual ski passes, and more.
Full-time staff can receive 28,000 kr. annually, with part-time staff receiving a prorated amount. Regular hourly workers can receive a 5,000 kr. grant.
Apply for wellness grants after 6 months of employment. Submit documents anytime during the year, with 12 months between grants. Payments are included with salary payments and appear on pay stubs.
Access to support and counseling team
Reykjavík City offers staff access to support and counseling services for mental and social well-being.
The team's main role is to offer individual sessions, as well as prevention through education and information on mental health and social well-being.
Generally, 1-4 sessions with a counselor are available for each employee who requests it.
