Senior transportation service
Older adults who can't use public transportation or their own vehicle can access transportation service. Whether you need to get to the store, attend a celebration or see a doctor, you can use transportation service to reach your destination and return home.
You apply through Reykjavík City initially, then Pant handles all communication and provision of the transportation service.
Can I get transportation service?
You can access transportation service if you meet these requirements:
- Are 67 years old or older
- Have legal residence in Reykjavík
- Live independently
- Don't have access to your own vehicle
- Can't use public transportation
- Have a chronic motor impairment

What does the transportation service cost?
Each trip with the senior transportation service costs 1.690 króna.
People whose income is at or below the Social Insurance Administration guidelines can apply for a fee reduction for senior transportation service. With this reduction, the fee for your first 16 trips equals the standard bus fare.

What happens next?
After you apply, we'll contact you to review your needs and preferences. We may also request supporting documents with your application if necessary. We evaluate applications based on the requirements and the applicant's ability to use other transportation options.
You'll receive written notification about whether your application is approved or denied. Responses to online applications are posted on the transportation service application portal.
If your application is denied and you believe there are special reasons that warrant an exception to the rules, you can submit an appeal to the Welfare Council appeals committee.
