Music education is available for children and youth in all city districts, both in school bands and in music schools that have service contracts with Reykjavík City.
School bands
The four school bands operated by the City of Reykjavík provide high-quality music education and training. Applications for school bands can be made online. You can pay for lessons using the Recreation Card.
Music schools
Music schools in Reykjavík offer a variety of music education. Many instruments are taught, and singing lessons are also available.
Applications for music schools can be made online, though sometimes it may also need to be done through the school itself. Each music school has its own fee schedule.
