Employees are asked to register for temporary posts in the welfare service

Assistance is being called for from common employees, as well as social- and health service assistants, employees with diploma in vocational studies for people with disabilities, social workers, paramedics, psychologists and nurses, who are ready to take on temporary posts on a short term notice in the welfare service.

Wages will be paid by the municipality, institution or company in the welfare service according to applying collective agreements or other applying institutional contracts in each instance. After registration, individuals will be contacted and next steps discussed. Please notice, that the time period from registration until an individual will be contacted may vary and in some instances some time may pass before individuals will be contacted, depending on capacity at each given time.

Registered information will be kept in a database, hosted by the Ministry of Social Affairs and will be used for the purpose of calling employees to work on temporary posts due to the COVID-19 virus. Information in the database will be used by the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Icelandic Association of Local Authorities to accordingly distribute information on individuals to municipalities, institutions and companies in the welfare service, in order for hiring parties to be able to contact registered individuals. The registration in the database depends upon the approval of each individual and can be withdrawn at all times.

The database is considered the property of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Skógarhlíð 6, 105 Reykjavík and the ministry is responsible for it. The ministry will in cooperation with the Icelandic Association of Local Authorities and institutions in welfare services, in appropriate manner, provide information on individuals to municipalities and institutions in the welfare services accordingly and in compliance with the posts that individuals register for.
