Soil disposal

Soil material reception in Bolaöldur

Open for reception Monday to Thursday 8am–5pm and Fridays 8am–4pm. Closed on weekends.

Fees for soil material reception in Bolaöldur are planned to start around New Year 2022/23. This aligns with legal procedures stating those bringing waste for disposal must pay the actual cost of handling that waste.

Fee structure will be announced later, but SORPA business cards can be used for payment.

What materials can be disposed of?

Only recyclable, inert soil materials such as soil, gravel and rock are allowed for disposal. Concrete debris with all protruding iron removed and cleaned of other materials like insulation, cardboard and cladding is also allowed.

Organic waste such as animal excrement and agricultural residues, as stated in the operating permit, is not allowed.

Where is the soil disposal area?

The soil disposal area is located in Bolaöldur on the slopes of Vífilsfell in Ölfus. It's a quarry area where receiving soil materials helps reclaim land in older quarries. Drive to the quarry area from Suðurlandsvegur south, just west of Litla-Kaffistofan.
