About Selásskóli

Selásskóli began teaching in the fall of 1986. The school is a peripheral school at the top of Árbær. The children go to Selásskóli until 12 years old (grades 1 to 7) when they go to Árbæjarskóli, the district's consolidated school. The school has taken advantage of its proximity to the city's main natural pearls by integrating them into as many subjects as possible.

The school's motto is 'Let a Thousand Flowers Bloom' and our values are 'Respect – Joy and Friendship'. These guiding principles reflect our focus in school activities.

The after-school program Víðisel is for children in grades 1 to 4 at Selásskóli, and the youth center Tían offers diverse and enjoyable activities for children and teenagers.

Child prosperity

The Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity has come into effect. The goal is to ensure children and guardians receive the right assistance, at the right time, from the right parties. Families and children in need of early support have guaranteed access to a contact person in the child's immediate environment, such as in preschool or primary school. The contact person offers information and guidance on services and ensures that children and guardians have unhindered access to these services. Children, youth, and guardians can contact the school contact person to request integrated services.

The contact person for Selásskóli is: Þóra Ársælsdóttir
