About Hvassaleitisskóli

Hvassaleitisskóli is a comprehensive primary school with 190 students in grades 1-7. The school has about 190 students. Most of our students come from Austurborg preschool. After completing the 7th grade, most students transfer to Réttarholtsskóli, where they complete their primary education.

At Hvassaleitisskóli, we focus on putting students and their needs first. This school year, we will start implementing guidance learning along with the disciplinary policy of Positive Discipline. At the youngest level, teaching is based on beginner reading methods, and at the mid-level, there is a development project called "Soup", which is interdisciplinary teaching. The school has an active autism division called the Masters Division, where 9 students are studying.

The after-school program Krakkakot is for children in grades 1 to 4, and the youth center Tónabær offers diverse and enjoyable activities for children and adolescents.

Child prosperity

The Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity has come into effect. The goal is to ensure children and guardians receive the right assistance, at the right time, from the right parties. Families and children in need of early support have guaranteed access to a contact person in the child's immediate environment, such as in preschool or primary school. The contact person offers information and guidance on services and ensures that children and guardians have unhindered access to these services. Children, youth, and guardians can contact the school contact person to request integrated services.
