In January 2015, the City of Reykjavík started a project called Together Against Violence in cooperation with the Capital Area Police Department, along with the Women´s Shelter in Iceland and the Health Centers in the Capital Area.
The aim of the project is to send a clear message that domestic violence will not be tolerated, to improve the city´s services to both the victim and the perpetrator of domestic violence, and to strengthen cooperation between the institutions that work on the issue. Emphasis is being placed on taking appropriate measures as soon as violence in close relationships is detected.
If you are or have been a victim of violence you can get support. Here is information on help for victims of violence . Perpetrators can also seek help; see further information on help for perpetrators of violence.
Chairman of the project Together Against Violence is Anna Kristinsdóttir.
Project manager of the project Together Against Violence is Halldóra Gunnarsdóttir.
