The Imagine Peace Tower in Viðey island will be illuminated Monday, 20 March, the day Yoko Ono and John Lennon got married in 1969. Their wedding was followed by a week-long honeymoon where Lennon and Ono staged a “Bed-In” for peace at the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel.
That day, the 20th March, is also the day of March equinox – which marks the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator – the imaginary line in the sky above the Earth’s equator – from south to north. The Imagine Peace tower will be lit until Monday 27th March. The March equinox has long been celebrated as a time of rebirth in the Northern Hemisphere.
